Rental Apartment
La Casa delle Vita is currently a concrete shell…..therefore we have rented an apartment from our new pal Roberto (ex-mayor, probably next mayor, definitely the guy to know).
The flat is a two bed, functional, has front and rear balconies with fabulous views and an easy to clean IKEA kitchen. It kind of feels as though you’re staying at your gran’s with lavender draw fresheners, piles of flowery not-quite-matching- bedding: bottom sheet, top sheet, itchy blankets and a variety of random, framed prints on the walls: from Monet to a Where’s Wally puzzle (yes, completed, where is Wally?!).
We’re on the first floor of a 2 story, 4 apartment block. To the rear there is a bit of scrub garden leading down to the river and this is where we snuck out to during our 5 day isolation period. Being the obedient type (!) I was certain The Authorities would arrive at any given moment despite the opinion of locals who decided The Authorities wouldn’t bother traipsing up to Nasino, especially after lunch and most certainly not on a weekend…! We played it safe (for my karma) just exploring locally- lots of different points to get in the river and scramble over the boulders to work up or down stream. We threw a million stones into the water from various quaint little bridges. We took fat chalks to our own house (a short walk from our rental) and planned out where the kitchen would go, dining area, lounge layout, beds and hot tubS and swimming poolS (R & Rs input).
Fascinated by ants, grasshoppers and enormous butterflies, space to race around and slam the football around INSIDE the boys gradually became enamoured by their new pad. I spent plenty of time on the balconies gazing out at the alps, rising majestically into the blue sky, sun kissed and already feeling like old friends.
I suppose in some ways I feel relieved the house is as perfect, in it’s potential as I remember and my mind is racing with wild schemes, elaborate ‘workings-out’ and happy, HAPPY visions of the wonderful times yet to come as we bring La Casa delle Vita to life…
