Inside: Outside/‘Questa è Italia’ #3

I remind my readers the date of our house purchase: August 2020. We received the green light in December 2022. All that time we were waiting on planning permission; the house ‘skeleton’ we bought wasn’t quite built according to the original plans for which planning had been granted: in essence the structure was too big. We were basically required to block a chunk out (upon advice that this would be quicker, easier and cheaper than applying for retrospective planning). When discussing this with the il geometro he happily added that once the work had been completed to rectify the issue and ‘ticked off’, we could then revert back to the larger footprint i.e. knock the work down: ‘Questa è Italia’!

The area we chose to block off is a corner of the ground floor open plan living area that could have proved a challenge to make good use of, tucked in by the stairs and a massive pillar standing ungraciously in the way of making it a sensible dining area, for example. Thus a new inside: outside area has emerged. Funny how things work out, right? Instead of an awkward corner I’d probably have filled with a love-seat (Vandy takes the piss constantly that for a person who never sits down I’m forever creating new seating areas! I like to ‘suggest the possibility’, cut me some slack, maybe one day I will sit down?!) we now have a fabulously- functional area accessed from inside: ground floor loo and outside: pool shower, robe hooks, towel storage etc. High fives all round (once again wish I knew how to insert an emoji, but maybe they’re over used and I do love words ((heart emoji required, damn!)) )
