Stick to your line

Us Brits are sticklers for queuing, taking our turn, politely stepping aside for others to pass, following directional arrows and rules.

Italians prefer to follow and stick rigidly to the ‘path of least resistance’. In a shop, the Post Office, on the road, walking along the path, at a bus stop or in a train station. After a few weeks of being here I realised I was going to have to learn to over ride my instincts if I was to ever get served!

Even the boys noticed this, especially Rex who found it utterly hilarious how, walking along the path or on the beach the Italians determinedly 'stick to their line- interrupting games of bat and ball, water volley, general larking around, and sometimes walking straight through a newly built master piece of a sandcastle (now not hilarious).

But, we had the last laugh (at least for a split second) when a signore who didn’t even move his eyes let alone his direction, walked straight though the steaming stream of Ranulph’s pee as he ‘warmed up the sea’!! Ha ha ha!
