Sleeping with…

If someone (who, I’m not sure) happened to look into our apartment bedroom they may be somewhat bemused/ startled/ intrigued/ other to observe that we are sleeping with…

…Stacked up (now unseen by us, like a familiar old bear) next to the bed: chain saw, strimmer, helmet, Stanley knife, nylon cord, hand saw, hammer, screw driver, petrol can (half full), engine oil, hemp string, super glue, black Sharpie, sharp pencil.

If, said someone were to guess the collective purpose of the above items, one answer that may spring to mind could be that we are extremely, nay excessively well prepared for the unlikely, yet impressively nimble intruder: we have a first floor balcony that to reach proves a challenge similar to that of scaling the north face of the Eiger!

The more sensible onlooker would perhaps be more likely to summarise the situation, factoring in why we are in an apartment in Italy and say to themselves ‘ah-ha! This is where handy-Vandy keeps his tools needed occasionally for the family’s currently un-secure house down the road’!!!

We no longer notice the faint fuel fumes.
