Re-fuelling
‘Pull in here babe we need to fill up’. Subtext: the car needs petrol, I need a coffee, Vandy, I know will need a Redbull and the boys undoubtedly need a snack…another snack.
Here in Italy you generally pre-pay at the pump then lift and load yourself. Or, if you pay a little extra, an attendant will do it for you, like in the olden days!
Invariably the self-pay option doesn’t work the first 3 times and they come over, roll their eyes and help you anyway!
What one will often find, unlike almost anywhere in England anyway, is that your vehicle will be the only thing re-fuelled…in this particular fuel station, the only item on sale was….wine!! Bottles and bottles of it, row upon row but no coffee, no Redbull, no snacks! Disappointed indeed but very, very, amused! ‘One for the road Vands?!’
Oh, and the pump-helper-person was smoking … questa e Italia (refer to previous post).
